The Stelvio Pass is a magical place that offers unique emotions in every season of the year. What are you waiting for?
Soaring to an elevation of 2,757 meters, the Stelvio Pass is Italy’s highest mountain pass and one of Europe’s most iconic, renowned for its breathtaking hairpin turns and spectacular panoramas.
The Stelvio Pass is a must-ride for any cyclist. With its 48 hairpin bends and an average gradient of 8%, the climb is considered one of the most challenging in the world. Year after year, cyclists gather to test their endurance and reach the peak.
Hiking enthusiasts can also find a vast network of trails at the Stelvio Pass, winding between glacial lakes, snow-capped peaks, and wild landscapes. Among the most evocative trails is the one that leads to the Garibaldi Refuge, located at an altitude of 2,537 meters.
Bike Experience
Whether you’re a seasoned biker or a beginner, you’ll find the perfect trail for you in Bormio. The area offers a vast network of trails, from technical single tracks to comfortable forest roads, winding through woods, meadows, and mountains.
There are countless mountain bike and e-bike trails suitable for all levels of ability, such as the Sentiero della Valtellina, where you can admire the Presena Glacier, or the Alta Rezia, a vast area with 200 km of mountain bike trails immersed in the Alps, or even the Sentiero dei Laghi, which leads to the lakes of Cancano and San Giacomo.
There are also classic cycle paths, such as the Alta Valtellina: a 35 km route that connects Bormio to Livigno, perfect for the whole family.
Alpine hiking
No matter your experience level, you’ll find trails in Bormio that will give you unforgettable thrills. You can admire the beauty of the Stelvio National Park, with its glaciers, alpine lakes and snow-capped mountains.
Whether you are an expert hiker or a novice, in Bormio you will find the perfect path for you.
You will be able to choose between easy routes, such as the Sentiero Felice which winds through flowering meadows and larch forests, excursions of medium difficulty which will lead you to alpine refuges with breathtaking views such as the Rifugio dei Forni or Pizzini, starting directly from the characteristic village of Santa Caterina, an excursion that leads to 2,020 meters above sea level. From the refuge you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Ortler mountain group and the Forni Glacier.
And if you want to challenge yourself, try the expert routes such as the Gran Zebrù: a hike of around 15 km that leads to the summit of the Gran Zebrù, a mountain at 3,856 meters above sea level.
Warning: the excursion is demanding and requires mountaineering experience.
